Activity Description:

Would you like to train to become a Kent Dormouse Monitor?

This year Kent Mammal Group were awarded a BBC Wildlife Grant to help fund dormouse work in the county. We are therefore able to offer a limited number of free places on a Dormouse Ecology and Conservation Workshop at Wildwood on June 19th, to be followed by a free Dormouse Handling Workshop at a later date.  The course covers dormouse ecology, conservation, habitat requirement and management, survey methods and handling skills and includes a field visit to a local wood to check nest boxes.

Those attending the workshops will be expected to continue their training by assisting a licensed dormouse surveyor with nest box surveys, one day per month for at least one season. Once they are competent they will then become an accredited agent on our President’s licence and be expected to monitor a site for Kent Mammal Group for at least a further year.
